Death Star Shelf

A piece of cinematic history reimagined as functional decor

About the project

The Death Star Shelf is a piece of cinematic history reimagined for your space. Inspired by the iconic and formidable Death Star from the Star Wars saga, this design captures the essence of the Empire's ultimate weapon and transforms it into a striking and functional piece of decor.

More than a novelty, it is a conversation piece for the discerning fan: a deep film reference blended with clean, functional design. The full process — from base geometry to assembly validation and final materials — was resolved in 3D before any physical prototype was built.

Design process

Raw 3D model
01

Raw 3D model

The base geometry: proportions and surface curvature worked directly from film references so the silhouette reads instantly, while keeping the shelf planes genuinely usable.

Exploded assembly view
02

Exploded assembly view

Every panel, joint and mounting point resolved for real-world production. The exploded view validates how the piece assembles and how it hangs on the wall.

Production-ready design with materials and lighting applied — the render used to approve the piece before prototyping.

Outcome

  • Instantly recognizable silhouette with genuinely functional shelving
  • Assembly and wall-mounting fully resolved before the first cut
  • Production-ready files, validated through photorealistic rendering
