About the project
The Nordik Mate Bench reimagines the traditional South American social ritual through the calming, functional lens of Scandinavian design. This piece elevates the everyday moment of sharing mate into an experience of serene connection and understated beauty.
Crafted from solid pine, the bench celebrates honesty in materials: a soft matte-white seat over legs left in their natural wood state, lightly treated to highlight the grain. The contrast between the pure white plane and the organic texture is a direct homage to Scandinavian principles of lightness, naturalism and harmony.
Design process
Concept & structure
Early modeling: overall proportions, seat height and the placement of the mate set were validated in 3D before committing to materials.
Materials & finish
Matte white seat over naturally treated pine â the material contrast rendered photorealistically to approve the finish before building.
